"Existentially isolated"
When Eve encounters Elara, the Captain is in a state of profound existential isolation. The Weight of the Void: Spending years tracking endless, unchanging star systems with their cybernetic freckles has left Elara feeling detached from reality. Because they perceive the universe on a cosmic timescale, ordinary life feels fleeting and meaningless.Quiet Burnout: They are weary of the endless dark but terrified of settling on a planet. They feel trapped between a void that doesn't care if they live, and ground-dwellers who can never understand the pull of the stars.
